The South Brunswick Senior Center celebrated its 25th Anniversary on Thursday, September 22nd. The Center, opened in 1991, serves South Brunswick’s active adult community, providing education, recreational, and wellness services.
The anniversary was marked by a celebration luncheon that was attended by more than 200 members of the Center. The celebration included lunch, a photo booth (to help folks remember the day), and dancing to the music of DJ Mel Witschi.
Marking the event, South Brunswick’s Office on Aging Director Christine Wildemuth commented on the history of the Center and recent improvements, including the construction of the Wellness Center annex, which provides exercise equipment and spaces while also housing the Princeton HealthCare System.
Mayor Frank Gambatese congratulated Ms. Wildemuth and the Center’s professional staff, thanking them for their dedication to providing top-tier services to the active adult community. The Mayor’s comments were followed by the Senior Center’s Township Council liaison, Charlie Carley, who noted upcoming improvements to the Center. These improvements include the refurbishment of interior finishes, replacement of furniture and the construction of technology spaces. Asking for patience while the work is underway, Carley said, “Next spring you’ll have a brand new Center.”
Relating that the Center experience is active and vibrant, Senior Advisory Council Chairman Don Bergman capped off remarks by telling the attendees to mark their calendars for the 50th anniversary celebration.
